Funjet motor???

We ordered 3 of these . One comrad had one with a Hobbyking inrunner and it flew nice until it tried to fly thru a tree. I think it was high 2000kv. I would like to try a better motor like a Mega using a 3S set-up. Any suggestions? Yeah I tried to read thru the 100's of pages on the other forums...

Re: Funjet motor???

If you want to use a Mega, try the 16/17/2, 16/15/3, or the 16 EDF. Make sure the rest of your system is up to the task as well!! (ie/ make sure it can all handle 350-500Watts and at least 35-50 Amps)

My suggestion for blistering speed on 3 cell Lipos would be something with as KV in the high 2000's or low 3000's, and it has to be rated to handle at least 35-45 Amps or 350-500Watts.

For example, I use a HET 2W-20 on 4.75x4.75 prop, CC 60 Amp ESC and 3S 2650 mAh Lipos. This setup draws in excess 50 Amps WOT!

Let us know how it goes!

Re: Funjet motor???

Here's a 2300kv @ 480watts with a 4.5 x 4.5 prop.
This is the one I use, @ 3200kv @ 650watts with a 4.1 x 4.1 prop and 4 cell lipo or 4.5 x 4.5 prop with a 3 cell lipo.
I've smoked a couple of these @ 3,700kv and 700 watts with a 4.1 x 4.1 prop on a 3 cell lipo.

Thumbs up Re: Funjet motor???

Michael has some nice suggestions, and I also second the use of these outrunners too. I just "smoked" the middle one that Michael is using (the 3200KV Outrunner) on a wing with a 6x4 on 3 cells!! It lasted a season, so no complaints... Haha, and I was knowingly pushing that one to the limit!! The same replacement is on it's way from HK now!

Re: Funjet motor???

What about the best place to get these motors? I found EJF carries the HET for $59. I know ICARE has the MEGA's for a decent price. Kontronic Fun 400-28 is hard to find these days. I also found people using the NEU motors. I have a CC45 so I think I will setup to that amperage. I would probably be happy at 30 amps (3S), big jumps in power for lsmaller gains in speed from there on up I would think. Of course I won't be happy being the slow dog out of the bunch!!

Re: Funjet motor???

I-Care and EJF are good, but in my opinion:

Look at Great Hobbies for the E-Flite BL15DF 3200kv, or the Scorpion HKII 2221-8T motor also looks very promising...in fact I may try that one!! Cheap too!

Another option would be the "Just-Go-Fly" motors...they have a good reputation for kick butt setups that are a fair price.

Yup! I'm using the same setup but on 3s, and it screams! Mike88, what wing or airframe are you using this in? Mine is in a Sylvan Prodigy 36" wing. I hit 500 Watts at 3/4 throttle, and stopped the test, then I dialed down my Tvl. Adj. to 50% to max out at 400 Watts! The wing is 24 ounces AUW.....
