Sounds great Tyler. Take it easy and have a great maiden.
If you need a Smart fly kill I think I have a spare.

Re: I'm getting wood! Details to follow!

Thanks for the offer, Bryan! Hopefully the one I've got will do the trick and I'll just order a new one for my Slick.

See you on the weekend I'm guessing?

Good luck with your maiden! Take it easy with her until you know everything's running smoothly.

Can definately see a big YAK in my future somewhere down the road.

Re: I'm getting wood! Details to follow!

The maiden was a success! We finally got it running and it turns out that the teflon tape wasn't the issue. We found that the main gasket between the carb and the motor hadn't been punched properly so that the pressure line was blocked. We cleared that out and it runs like a champ!

Other news is that it flies like a Carden should! I only needed one click of up elevator and that was only because the surfaces weren't 100% flat when I took off. No other clicks were needed and it is perfectly balanced. Lucky guess on the balancing, I guess!

Anyhow, on to the not so good news. Flutter issue similar to Brad's Edge on my right aileron. Good news on that is that I've been given the go ahead to buy 2 7950s to replace my old 7955s and my Spektrum signal line volage boosters also came in. I'm at the shop now and I'm going to try and do the swap before my shift, replacing the hinge pins with two lengths of piano wire. On that note, what is the diameter of the piano wire? Was it .032"? I hope not because we don't appear to have any at the shop!

Video will follow later!

Re: I'm getting wood! Details to follow!

It's all buttoned up again. I wish I had done the piano wire hinge pins from the beginning! It was so easy and now I can just pop the out if it's needed. It probably never will be needed again now that I've got new servos in there, but at least now it will take me 5 minutes to get the servos out instead of a half and hour or more.

I put a very small 90 degree bend at the end that ends closest to the servo and fed it through the hinges and then punched it through the wing root on that end. I then cut a small opening for a tiny wheel collar to seat into the root and tightened it up on the wire. On the wing tip end I did the same procedure and just notched the hinge line a tiny bit so that the wheel collar would be flush with the wing tip.

I put the signal line voltage boosters on my rudder and ailerons just to be safe. The rudder calmed its twitching considerably and no twitching from the ailerons. The only twitching left now is Trevor waiting for the maiden video, lol!

It might be a little while for the video because I'm getting ready for the contest right now. I'll have to practice on the sim and hope I remember the sequence. I've barely practiced it at all and I haven't flown it completely once with a real plane.

I can't wait to fly my Carden again! It is awesome!
