Savage eating fuel tanks

So when i first bought my savage used the fuel tank was leaking from somewhere so i replaced it. yesterday i had my first good run with it in a gravelpit, fuel was all over the top of the tank and all down the side of the car. I tip the truck to see if i can get it to leak, but nothing. so why is all this fuel coming out?

Hey dude, mine is the same it has a tiny crack at the top near the fuel line.

I think the Tmaxx is a better built truck, easier to work on also. Maybe I should sell the Savage and just stick to the TMAXX.

I'm not sure on the cause, I think the fuel tank protector will only protect on side impacts, but our tanks our are leaking from the top????

When I first got my used Savage which was in Feb. I was all pumped, but now I don't even care. 1/8 buggies are so much more fun and reliable lol.

One common issue with the Savage tanks is that they are easily punctured by the screw that holds the top of the shocks on. One good crash and the shock tower flexes enough to push the end of the screw into the tank. I will take the screw off and turn it around so that the threaded end faces the back of the truck and this is less likely to be an issue.

Well, what can you say about a wobbly tank hanging off of the side of the truck? Always have a spare with you!!! I have seen more than enough Savages with tank problems. You might want to consider the center tank mod. It is the way HPI should have done it to start.
