Re: soldering station

I have a similar one and the one you linked to may be made by the same company then private labeled.

The one I have is a Hakko 936 (discontinued) and works well for everything from boards to batteries.

I have that exact same model. Best money I have spent, makes a huge difference when soldering.

Re: soldering station

Yea. I want to order one and just thought to check/ask

It seems to be about half price of some of the name brand American stations. I have grown tired of cheap irons that seem to have poor duration. Every few yrs I end up with a new cheap iron so thought to try something a bit better. Thanks guys

Re: soldering station

One thing I will suggest is to get a few different tips for it. Everything from a broad chisel to a fine point tip. Also, always cover the tip with some solder when you're done to help prevent the tip from corroding.

It does come with a pencil and chisel tip....not sure how many other options are available for it. They only show 1 pencil tip and a 2.4 and 3.4mm chisel as replacements.

Re: soldering station

I see HK now carries the brass filing for tip clean up. Works way better then the sponge, way better.

Re: soldering station

When buying a good soldering station it is valid to consider whether tips will be available for many years to come since the soldering station can serve you well for many years. If you can no longer buy tips, you will need to buy a new station. I got burned this way once, so I bought a big name station.
