Re: Spektrum AR7000 warning
Thanks Emery. That's what I figured. Not sure why he's not getting both.

Re: Spektrum AR7000 warning
Spektrum has published a set of Best Installation practices:
http://www.spektrumrc.com/Community/...Practices.aspx It covers the AR7000 receivers and the test procedures to ensure you have the latest software. Thanks, Mark. |

Re: Spektrum AR7000 warning
Guys and so we are all clear. I believe the issue with Mark’s receiver is that he has one of the first generation of AR7000. The original AR7000 took about 2 seconds or so to reboot if ever the voltage were to drop below 3.2volts. If you are worried that you have an older receiver like that, the easy test is to turn on your system, then unplug your battery (turn off the switch) wait a few seconds, and then plug it back in. If you regain an instant link, then you have the updated AR7000. If you plug it back in and it takes 2 or so seconds for it to connect, then you may have an older AR7000. At that point call Horizon, and they will update your receiver.
Blinking lights: To clarify, blinking lights is a brown out indicator. The proper way to monitor any brown out situation is to follow your standard DSM procedures of first switching on the transmitter, then the receiver. At that point you should have solid lights. Fly, then land. If at that point you notice blinking lights, it means that you had a brown out, and should look further into your set up (your voltage dropped below 3.2 volts) Keep in mind that if you turn off your receiver, and then turn it back on without cycling your transmitter, your lights will blink as you just simulated a brown out condition. I hope this helps Sam |

Re: Spektrum AR7000 warning
Hi Sam
I read the article in the URL referenced earlier in this thread .. "QuickConnect Voltage Recovery System for DSM2 Air receivers" .. and am still not certain how I stand. I tested 5 installed AR7000 Rxs and find that, based on your suggested "wait a few seconds" (6 secs actually) before re-powering, I do have quick connect on all. However, I only have flashing LEDs on 1 Rx. The others show solid upon reconnection. It seems that there are 2 indications possible ... and I have mostly only 1. That said, all these Rxs (except the newest one, which flashes) have flown multiple times last season with no probs. I am still left wondering if I should send 4 in to Horizon for updating, esp with the season starting soon ... BTW, I havent looked at my 2 or 3 AR9000 Rxs yet ...... Martyn W |

Re: Spektrum AR7000 warning
Hey Marty,
Sam's possibly got it a little wrong with the advice regarding turning off the receiver power and waiting a few seconds. The Spektrum tech made it clear you must power it off and on quickly. I don't recall what the interval was before you actually completely lose your link, and the receiver looks for a new one - it may have been a couple seconds. In order to properly test for the flashing LEDs, you need to power off then on in quick succession. Other than that, his advice appears spot on. Keep in mind, this is just my understanding of the situation. Cross check my info to be 100% sure. |

Re: Spektrum AR7000 warning
Thanks for the response Mark
Powering off-and-instant-on gives me the same solid LEDs as waiting 6 secs. Surprisingly the same applies for even 20 (!) secs: instant reconnect ... as long as the Tx remains on. I didn't go longer yet, but I wonder what the max is .... Maybe the Rx holds the 2 frequencies in flash memory ... like fail safe. Anyway, based on the above, and with the comment by Sired by fire in mind, I am not going to send them in to Horizon right now. Perhaps Sam will respond further ... or we can get one from Horizon. |

Re: Spektrum AR7000 warning
This reply came from Horizon and seems definitive ...
The Quick Connect feature is indicated by the flashing LED on the receiver once power has been regained after a brown out or power loss provided the transmitter has not been powered off. If the LED on the receiver does not flash after power is restored then the receiver does not have the Quick Connect feature. |
