Re: Airtronics Xtal

For fast service, and best prices, contact Global Hobbies directly, or go to there web site and type in Airtronics and everything is listed there for you. They are very good at mailing stuff out by USPS, and if it is in a envelope you likely will not have to pay any taxes.

Re: Airtronics Xtal

For receiver crystals you can use Futaba and HiTec dual conversion crystals as well. Just range check first but I have used both without any issues.

As for Tx crystals go with Airtronics. I have a couple, what frequencies are you looking for? You can ususally get away with one or two frequencies away from what it is set to without needing to re-tune. I was also told if you do a full antenna down 30 paces range check and everything is clear you can usually swap Airtronics across the board. If you are near Dundas there is a guy there who can tune and repair radios. Also Flightcraft in Kitchener used to do radio repairs. If they can do repairs they should be able to tune any brand of radio (provided you have the crystal). Hope this helps.

Re: Airtronics Xtal

I tried in my RD 6000 and my 8000 and only the origanal would work. I found that Air Rx ones are pricy, I use hitec for a third of the price and no probs. I have a 30 and a 40 TX and RX and some 13 RX's if they help.

Talking Re: Airtronics Xtal

Guys,

Thanks for all the good information. Just wanted to add a little info as you may be able to point me in the right direction. I have been using my Airtronics RD6000 for the last two months without issue. I went to the Lachute club ( have not been there before ) for the maiden of my Edge 540T (0.61 size) and when I switch on the radio to check out the plane before engine start, all the control surfaces go to extreme hard over. I was so surprised as I have had no problems with the radio in the last 5 years. Any suggestions either for potential cause of problem or any troubleshooting that can be done.

Thanks in advance for any help you may give

Iain.....

Your receiver is not finding your transmitter. It could be your crystal( proper one or broken) Antenna, get it really close and see if it works, but it sounds like your set up in the programing is off.
1 Easy first, Model selection. ( I have done it lots)

2 Check what modulation you are on. Make sure you have it on the proper one for that Rx. IE PPM, PPM reverce, PCM1, PCM2.

3 If it worked at home and not at the field then make sure no one else has that channel. If it twitches its usually getting a weak signal. If it locks its getting no signal.

4 Slim one here but Battery charge and polarity in the plane.

If you dont have the book you can download it from Airtronics.

Re: Airtronics Xtal

Thanks HeavyD for all the suggestions.

1. I checked Model selection and it was ok. I changed model selection and reset all parameters to default. Still had the same problem.

2. Checked modulation and Rx is PPM and Tx was setup correctly. Still same problem.

3. No one else at the field was using Channel #14 and when it went full deflection of the servo, it went there and stayed there without any twitching.

4. Have checked the polarity and all is good there.

As far as using Hitec Rx and Tx xtals, I assume for the RD6000 they are dual conversion.

I looked on www.greathobbies.com and I found hitec xtals with P/N HIT72070R titled "FM DC Rx Crystal - 72.070 #14". Is this the right one..?

Thanks again

Iain

Re: Airtronics Xtal

Try a different crystal in the Rx and see if its the same then try a different Rx.

Re: Airtronics Xtal

My channel 25 is pn 6677225. Just make sure they are Futaba and HiTec dual conversion crystals.
