contant rotation

looking for a little help, I flew nitro heli's a while ago(lost all my knowledge now), tring to help a friend with an electric heli that just keeps spinning around to the left even when full right is given. Forget the make of the heli but it is very similar to an Align 450.

Here is what we have done or know.
- gyro seems to be working fine and have ajusted the gain upward to it being very sensitive
- changed the rotor speed up and down to vary the pitch even to the point of high rotor speed very little pitch and it still rotates in circles

it seems that there is not enough speed on the rear blades or not enough pitch, but the pitch is at full throw.

I have little talent when it comes to heli's, any ideas or help would be apprecited.

one thing is noted, at full charge 11.1 lipo 2100mah 10c it is more stable but 5-10min into the flight it goes all wonky......weak battery?

Re: contant rotation

there could be many reasons, 10c is pretty low battery for 450 size, but asside from that, the gyro may be reversed, servo channel may be reversed, set to digital on analog servo, bad gyro, belt twisted causing reverse rotation, not initialized properly, What kind of gyro is it? Did it ever work?

All good points, also
Something simple to also check - are the blades on the tail the right way round ? (leading edge leading not trailing)

If all else fails check out one of Bob Finless Helifreak Tech Room articles on setting up a tail/Gyro etc...he is a master at explaining with videos.

Go through his set ups one by one and then try again.

Re: contant rotation

I'll bet that the gyro is reversed.

Re: contant rotation

Awesome guys, I gave him a JR500t that I have not used to try it out, if this works then we know it was the Gyro.

The weird part about it, is he took it to Flight Craft 2 weeks ago where he got it from and Scott Gray hovered it in the store, as said before it gets worse as the battery goes down?

What we will do this weekend is replace the battery with a higher C rating and replace the gyro and see what happens,

thanks for the info, any other thoughts are still appreciated.

sounds like a weak battery to me. at high pitch, the battery cannot provide to current to give enough headspeed which results in low tail speed and the tail won't hold. as the battery goes down this gets worse.

also if you have increased the main blade pitch, that's made it worse, which might be why it flew in the other person's hands.
