Sonic Modell Extra 300

I recently bought one of these and have tested it a few times. Really rocks and rolls, very hard to control. Finally figured out had to drill spinner and align that. Pain in the ass and not covered in instructions.

Anyway, according to instructions, CG is 310 mm from tip of prop. I measure 230 to leading edge, so put 80 mm on my balancer. It needs huge allen wrench on nose to balance. That seems like an awful lot of weight. But very tail heavy.

Can find next to nothing on line.

Does anyone have any experience with one of these? Or any advice?

Re: Sonic Modell Extra 300

Do you have a photo of where your current CG is marked? I don't have a Sonic Model, but I've found that 3D planes like your 300 tend to have a CG that settles somewhere close to the wing spar or the wing tube.

Is it electric? How's the power? The right brushless motor can go a long way toward balancing the plane and allowing final adjustments through battery sizing and placement.

Re: Sonic Modell Extra 300

I don't have a photo. But the CG is 80 mm from the leading edge. I don't want to make adjustments unless I am sure the numbers are right. It seems to be right according to the instruction sheet, but it is way tail heavy. It is a PNP, so all parts, motor, etc., was already installed.
I found one internet post saying somebody added 150 grams of weight to the nose, but haven't been able to find anything else.
Just wondered if anybody had this plane and what they had found.
