How come there are no advertisements on this site?

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
I noticed that wher RCU started out there were no pop up banners. Now they are full of them. Is this the next step for RC Canada? Why or why not.

We may have some advertising, but I doubt we'd ever get to have as much as RCU...then again, I wouldn't want to have their monthly bandwidth bill...ouch

RCU is US based and thus caters to a market at least 10 times the size of the Canadian one.It has been in existance for at least two years, taking over from a couple of others that died natural deaths due to uncontrolled politics and venting .(sound familar?)
RCC meanwhile has existed only a few months, but is obviously on the right track since it has grown to no 1 in Canada already and is clearly supplying what enthusiasts want.
Income comes mainly from advertising so how much you see here will depend on whether manufacturers see value in using the site, and of course whether Jason, who started the whole thing ,wants to go commercial and if so how far.
I have no idea what kind of income is potentially involved or what Jasons plans and dreams are for the site.He seems a class act however and really hasnt made a bad move yet,so I doubt you will see ads here in bad taste.
I would be delighted if Jason could generate income for his skills and the work involved in creating and running this great site.

I agree fully. Jason needs some adds to offset his costs.

I find many of the ads handy on RCU, well except for maybe the BME 50 ad that takes you to the old site with only a 44!!

IMHO I think with 400 plus members I would rather pay an annual user fee than see annoying pop up adds

Hi guys,

We may end up having more banner ads, but we will NEVER have any pop up ads. If there is anyting I refuse to do is put pop up ads. That's the perfect way to ruin a successful site.

Jason,
Younever got back to me about having a draw of some kind? What about it? Would it be legal - if someone donated some prizes, and we as users bought tickets and all profits going to upkeep for RCC?

Sorry Andrew,
I think I would have to buy a lottery license for everything to be on the up and up. Don't know how that would work.

I really want to keep the site free of any charge for the users. I like having contests that users of the site can just win without having to buy anything.

Everything is going fine as far as the costs for the site go. I have been paying it out of my pocket, but the decals have really helped.

Don't worry about me guys, just sit back and enjoy the site.
