Yes but Gary is right and Dennis IS flying Basic so ANY airplane is good!

Worry about going bigger when /if you move up. As Gary said some of us can afford something bigger but as we have seen the guy/girl with the biggest plane does not always win. We saw Chris Robert take the first contest he ever flew in and win 3rd place with a .40 size Twist, beeting guys flying 25%, 30% and even 33% airplanes.

It's like they say... it's not the size of your equipment , it's what you can do with it. The key is pick a plane, stick with it and practice, practice, practice!
Practice, trim the plane!
Practice inverted, learn the rudder
Trim the plane
Make sure you fully understand the manuevers, have someone help you so you are not practicing a mistake
Practice

Basic can be competitive with a well trimed 40 glow size
Sporstman can be competitive with a well trimmed 120+ glow size
Intermediate can be competitive with a well trimmed 30% (84-87)
Advanced well trimmed 30%- whatever
Unlimited well trimmed 35% - whatever

Granted you could win unlimmited with a 30% but the odds at that level are stacked against you

As far as BME PAU aircraft are concerned - the craftsmanship has increased when I compare my Edge 1 to the Edge 3 that I've seen.
Wait till you see the 36% + 43% Edges!

Scaleguy summed it up pretty well but I will say it myself: The comment was made to a fellow flying BASIC and my reply was about new people starting IMAC, which is usually in the BASIC catigory! If you read my reply again, my whole discussion was concerning flying in BASIC.

I do agree that it becomes more and more advantageous to go to larger and larger planes as you progress/advance in IMAC but what I am saying is please use a bit of caution with such statements to new or prospective new folks as you don't want them to feel that if they can't spend a couple of thousand dollars or more on a large plane then why even try!

Its been proven that much less expensive smaller planes can be competitive in BASIC and if all an interested person has is a trainer, he can still find many advantages in giving it a try and thats what I'd like to see encouraged!

Thanks for your reply Craig, I do understand what your saying my friend!

Hey Kelvin:

Do you have any of the 30% Extras at the sale price?

I don't see any on your website, that's why I'm asking.

Dennis

The new planes are on the water and that's about all I know at the moment.

For the Extras, PAU was selling them at a clearance cost to make room for the bigger planes and I believe they are all sold out.

Yes, that is almost correct, 105" 36% Edge and 126" 43% Edge.

The picture is of the 43% Proto that was test flown at our flying field.
