Odd heli twitch!! Please help!!
I have a trex 500. Was having weird tail twitch for a while that was not gyro gain related, simply putting a more plush mount on the gyro solved the issue. But now there is a forward and backward nodding effect, it slightly rocks forward and back during flight, flies straight and true but just rocks a little. Not side to side.. Very odd. im stumped. anyone had something similar?
Thanks so much guys. Your the reason this forum kicks butt.

Re: Odd heli twitch!! Please help!!
Head speed a little low perhaps ... the 500 like higher head speeds ... Try to idle up in the 90 t0 100% and see what it does ... is this heli belt or torque tube tail drive?

Interesting, Its a torque drive tail. Iv been through every barring and screw, mechanically it seems fine.

Good because I had issues will static with my belt drive! I'd try a higher head speed before anything else Rob ... I'd be readyto put money on that!

Re: Odd heli twitch!! Please help!!
Would you happen to have a gp780 gyro on that thing? If so there may be no help for you. I had one and no matter what i did I couldn't get the wags, twitches, or bobs out of it completely. Could be cold related, dampeners in the head getting stiff or lipo's not performing in the cold weather like the would normally causing lower headspeed. May be the gyro tape getting too stiff in the cold.

Re: Odd heli twitch!! Please help!!
I also agree that a higher head-speed will help. For you it should be around 1700-2000RPM.
Also check that the paddles are aligned and that the blades are snug. If the blades are too lose in the grips, this will also happen. IF the blade grips do not have enough gripping surface, you may really have to tighten it down. Most blades should be snugged down so that they can self-align to the correct lead-lag angle, but if you have to "lock" them down, make sure the blades are set perfectly in line with the axis of the head. To do this, tighten the blades so they are snug but not tight, hover the heli (So centrifugal force aligns the blades), then land and without moving the blades, lock them down. Good luck, Max |
