From my understanding a regular diff transfers power to the wheel with out traction (to give you better acceleration etc) while a torsen puts all the power to where the traction is (which could easily cause you to spin out etc)

so you can say a torsen diff is like a limited slip diff?

not to my understanding really... a limited slip diff will lock up when there's lots of traction where a torsen I believe puts most of the power to 1 side of the diff...

I dunno I could be wrong on that but as said above they are way more money and I don't think most people really use them so I wouldn't spend the money on it personally....

Torsen simply is torque sensing, it does work somewhat like a limited slip diff. A regular diff will unload if a wheel loses grip and put more power to the wheel with no grip. This does not help acceleration. With a torsen if awheel loses grip , it will put power to the wheel which still has grip. Because rc cars have such a high power to weight ratio , it is easy to overpower all the wheels at once .

Therefor a torsen is counter productive in such an application.
