Would a Burnt Out Crystal Do It?

Been trying to fix the servo glitches in my radio. Just have one quick question. If a crystal, say in the transmitter was damaged, would it cause the servos to glitch?

It's a Futaba Skysport 4 (4VF) radio.

Most definitely would.

Fractured or poorly connected crystals cause the receiver to momentarily lose frequency control .. therefore no signal and therefore glitches.

But there are many other potential causes ... dirty/broken feedback pot; intermittent power or signal or ground connections; busted antenna connection; cracked circuit board, etc, etc, etc....

I've checked for all that. I have two sets of equipment for my two planes. I even tried another transmitter. Cleaned all the inside, checked for damage. The only constant thing I used in all my tests is the crystal on the TX so logically it's causing the problem. The problem definately seems to be caused by a weak signal.

So you're saying you swapped the Tx crystal into another radio and had the same problem?

Sure sounds like it's the rock ...

Went and bought a new crystal today. Popped it in and now the radio works seamlessly.

Thanks for the help.
