Tillotson carbs;
Can anyone help out with tillotson carb info . My other gas engs have the walbro , & i have no trouble with them - take apart /tune whatever. I have just got a sachs 3.2 it was new but old model -weighed 6 lbs . So have gutted it & put on a C&H ign; now down to 4-1/4 lbs . But not having luck with the fuel mix , the inner needle is the low /outer is high . Need an approx # of turns out on both for a general start. Maybe where it has been unused & sitting around the inside of carb ; is not working right . Any ideas ???

If it has been sitting for quite awhile I would take it apart and clean it. Also check the small screen on the intake for crap. Usually about 1/4" in diameter. I start with 2 turns out on the needle vales and tune from there. I think they are basically the same, tune your idle first and then your high end. If you adjust the idle then you have to adjust the top end last.
Caution that you do not lose the needle and spring and parts when diassembling. John

Tillotson carbs
Thanks Vulcan [or is it John ?] . Guess i should have had a look at the carb; before posting. took it apart , clean as a whistle , 2 screens , both clean , was as easy to take a look at as the Walbros . Now i know the carb is ok can proceed . Have had eng; running but top end only 5000rpm on a Menz 20-12 / Told you I had put the C&H ign on , checked & don't thinkhad enough timing advance , so have increased the throw on arm from carb & see if that does it . will have the carb needles @ 2 turns out to start . Thanks again .

Did a test on the two carbs one time just for hellery on a Quadra 50. Identical throat size, same fuel, same prop. Within 20 mins of each other. Tillotson was 400 rpm lower peaked for max RPM. Hardly enough difference for sport flying.
