For all around use I am happiest with DA, far from the most powerful but very reliable and easy to set up in a plane. Any DA engine is a no brainer setup.
My next on the list is 3W, I am addicted to the torque these babies put out. I just wish there was a better selection of headers for them. A bit heavy but it usually is not a problem.
Next is the ZDZ line although I have sold the ones I had. Great running engines but availability of headers and stuff is even worse. From dealers I have talked to the factory is very difficult to deal with and parts can be hard to get at times. Otherwise they have to be about the smoothest engines out there.
Next up would be GP I guess. I liked the 176 I had but did not have it long enough to get a real good feel for it. The line is going through some growing pains. Hopefully Fergus gets everything worked out and the line proves itself. He is trying to rise above the Chinese lines but has a way to go before he is up to the level of quality of the European or American DA engines.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

I really like my bricks"mvvs" smooth with great power
3w's although Dale will be taking my best one
I'm thinking GP will be great also.

I have to give a honourable mention to my dla 112 that has never let me down or endangered any of my planes. Although I havent found a airframe that I'm brave enough to put it on. Looks good on the shelf.
