changing crystals on older airtronics

Hi I have two Airtronics Vanguard transmitters one is a vg6dr on Ch. 30 the other is a VG7P on Ch. 28. Is there a way I can switch the crystals in the TXes so that I can use the VG7P on CH.30?

I have a Ch.30 RX and would prefer to use the vg7P because it has mixing features which the other doesn't.

There seems to be no obvious way to do the switch, I have seen the tuned crystal in other radios that you can just pull out and switch these radios don't have that.

You will have to send your transmitter to Airtronics to do the switch. Don't try it yourself. The transmitter must be re-tuned for the new crystal to insure that full flight range will be available. Airtronics will switch the frequency, retune it and give it a thorough inspection for a modest cost. Their service is fast (this time of year may take a while longer due to volume) and reasonably priced. I have sent radios to them several times for repair/annual checks etc and the longest it took was 4 weeks- it was only at Airtroncs for 5 days- the rest was US Postal/Canada post shipping time.

changing airtronics.

Why not just get a new crystal on channel 28 to match your 7 channel radio

Yup, after I learned that I would have to send the TX to Airtronics to be changed, I guessed it would be cheaper to get a new crystal. Where do I find a crystal for my Airtroniccs RX? Do I need to look for a crystal for this specific Radio or can it be any CH. 28 crystal.

Nosedive. For some reason the request form on the "radical crystal exchange" site that you linked did not come up. They may have changed server or something. Try this link instead.

I'm sending my request form on Monday. Very cool site.

Cheers. George

Interesting. Both links work on my 'puter. I've used Radical RC's crystal exchange a couple of times, as well as purchased a kit from them. Very good company to deal with. Dave Thacker, the owner is truly passionate about the hobby.
