New Mega Motor for 120 EDF's
I have been testing the new Mega 120 II motor in the AP-1200 which is a 120 mm EDF unit. On 12 cells, it produced over 6000 watts with a static thrust of 18.4 lbs but the amp draw was a bit high at 139 amps, but take away one cell, on 11 cells, it still produced 4700 watts of power with a static thrust of 15.2 lbs but at only 110 amps which is well within the motors limits.
I have another motor being delivered that has a KV that is about 100 rpm less, I believe it will handle the 12 cell pack, maybe even a 13 cell setup, but then the problem is getting a ESC to handle more than 12 cells. |

Re: New Mega Motor for 120 EDF's
John,
Is this the new Maga motor you mentioned to me that I would want to use with Dyna-e-max fan unit on my CF-100.... |

Re: New Mega Motor for 120 EDF's
Ok, sounds good, while you seek the cost, I'll look into getting a Dyna-e-max fan unit for it. Do I need to know if there is any specific conversion unit needed for this motor ie: Collet type or regular conversion kit on Dynamax fan units would work with it?

Re: New Mega Motor for 120 EDF's
I've been advised that my new Mega 120 22/60/2E motor is en-route to Canada, along with the rest of my order. The motor will have a KV of 675 RPM which is 139 RPM less than the already tested motor (Mega 120 22/60/1.5ES). I'm very excited about getting my hands on this motor and testing it, I am sure it will perform great on 12 cells in the AP-1200.
Still, I have not been advised of the retail cost of these motors, however, doing a calculation of the costs that I have been billed, I would estimate the cost to be somewhere around the $270.00 mark. Maybe a bit more, hopefully a bit less, but I'm sure it's under $300.00. |

Re: New Mega Motor for 120 EDF's
the new Mega motors are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! even the new one for the 70mm fans is awesome. I've got one coming for the upcoming speed contest on RCG. should be a great combo with the Mach alloy fan.
