Hi,

I was testing an aircraft this morning and noticed a leak coming from my electric fuel pump.

I thought I'd post here and ask if anyone has an electric or manual glow fuel pump for sale before I order a new one.

I live near Woodstock, On.

Hey Wayne,

It's quite likely that your old pump can be repaired if you can source the tiny "double ought" or maybe it was "triple ought" o-rings.

I repaired mine in the spring and it's been working like new all season.

If you're not in a rush, I'd be happy to do it for you when I get time. No point tossing it if it's serviceable.

Once you've got it open, it's pretty apparent how it works - I just can't remember what it looked like for the life of me now, but it was simple.

That wonderful hardware store in Drumbo may even have the o-rings you'll need.

Hi Mark,

I called to update you, but got your answering machine - here is the latest.
.
I took a look at the pump and as you had suspected, the "O" ring was the problem.

What I did was to install a new "O" ring and cut a short piece of fuel tubing and put it on the fitting before the "O" ring. The fuel tubing puts a small amount of spring pressure on the "O" ring to keep in in place and give it a more positive seal.

After doing this I connected fuel tubing to one fuel outlet and put air pressure into the pump through the tubing while blocking the other fuel outlet - there were no air leaks so I tested with fuel and all seems OK.

Leadfoot has an old pump and I'll be getting it as backup just incase this one fails.
