Bud Barkley 1/4 scale Tiger Moth

Been building this model now off and on for over 2 years. Almost ready
to cover. My question is:.... It calls for an old Quadra 35 hand crank (which I have
but not interested in installing it because at times it is hard to start).
I have a brand new DLE30 which I have been wondering if it is sufficient
to power the model. I plan to fly it scale like.
It is 88 inches wingspan and not all that heavy, 12-15 pounds maybe.
I will most likely have to add weight up in the nose. Engine will have to be push
forward and ignition batteries may compensate for the added weight.
Any advice is very much apprecaiated.

Guy

That will be fine!

DLE 30 has more power than an old quadra 35.

Thank you for info Kevin....What I do not like about the old Quadra is, it is difficult and dangerous to tune the carb when the engine is running,
fingers are very close to the prop. I made a tool for this it helps but still
akward.

Re: Bud Barkley 1/4 scale Tiger Moth

Very true!

I always make adjustments with the engine off on gassers. When its a newer style gasser get it warm shut it off, adjust, flip it, run it, repeat....

Best Tuning method I have found is a weird method. All by ear, takes awhile to get it but super easy when its done.

Oh yeah, The DLE 30 will pull that weight with authority.
I had a DLE 30 on a 12.5 lb plane.
3D, no problem. Could hover and pull out vertically without a problem.
