Nice, I thought these would fit in with my 1/12th or 1/14th scale of airliners...bit small but still pretty good flying model.

Re: Windrider 737 with CS 70mm 12 blade fans

Our second WR 737 build started today! Going with the -800 Qantas so an extra nose section was purchased to add to the regular kit. 16cm added in the front and 14cm added in the back. A plain hacksaw was used to cut the sections.
It will be powered with two CS7012 fans with cyclone power 2000kv outrunners on 6S (recycled from our crashed LX A10).
The kit came with nice alloy landing gear and medium sized servoless retracts. Ming also supplied extra decals for the windows with the extra nose section. Everything arrived in good condition.

Re: Windrider 737 with CS 70mm 12 blade fans

Added a thin CF rod into the tip of the rudder to give a little more strength. Started the hole first with a T pin and the sharpened CF just found its own way for the remainder.
The alloy landing gear legs are pretty beefy so some material needed to be filed away from where it would contact the retract motor.
Added CF strips on either side of the plywood nacelle beam. The ply is much better quality than our previous build so maybe the CF isn't even necessary.

Re: Windrider 737 with CS 70mm 12 blade fans

Nose retract and steering worked out. A new mounting plate made to spread the loads. The mounting plate is also angled upward toward the front to help the wheels retract fully. With a pull pull steering system we normally use a small torque rod to center the leg but this time we put some sticky black windshield sealant materiel between the leg and trunion to provide friction and hold the leg from turning when the stings go slack. Works nicely and is simple. The 20lb fishing line is secured to the servo arm held taught with short sections of aluminum tubing crimped tight.
Nose gear doors will be figured out later.

Rudder hinged with four large Robart style pin hinges. The HK control horn is embedded into the rudder and the linkage wire is from my stash of assorted FW parts.

Re: Windrider 737 with CS 70mm 12 blade fans

New main retract mounting plates cut from quality aircraft plywood slightly larger than stock to carry the loads. The original mounting cutout in foam is cut away to make room.
