Re: More Naza V1 questions

That video helped me a lot . Just got to set up failsafe and tweak a little now. Not sure why but with Naza futaba isn't a reverse on channel three as with all other electric flight.

Re: More Naza V1 questions

Ok I have programmed my rx to F/S .When radio is turned off it goes to just past 505 throttle. How can I be sure it returns to home. When radio is turned off U goes to Atti. It needs to go to failsafe Right??

The U channel MUST go to one of the failsafe positions. For me, I suggest you make the third U position failsafe, (on the far right on the programming screen where you can select what function you want the third channel to be)

And then set that as your failsafe position on the Futaba FS.

Dont worry about the throttle. The Naza has a low throttle cutoff protection. I believe it needs to see several seconds of low throttle before it chops the power. This is a safety feature in case you bottom the sticks accidentally while doing maneuvers while airborne.

In the TX off condition, though the Naza sees low throttle, it also sees the Failsafe command. Once the Naza see's a failsafe, it overrides the throttle anyway, so you should be good. Nevertheless, I would suggest your first "TX off" air test be done in an open field over tall grass just in case.

Re: More Naza V1 questions

Ok still not flown yet but all looks good on the naza assistant. When I turn off my radio it goes to half throttle and failsafe. Which by other settings should make it return to home. So this brings up another question ,what makes the throttle feather down and land?

HA HA.. Be prepared to be blown away, Mike. You are DONE!

If you have the U channel set to "Failsafe". I suggest you try a switch activated faisafe test a few times . MAKE SURE you have full GPS lock and your other functions like IMU calibration and compass have been calibrated recently and are working (this is a normal thing you would have done prior during your previous flights anyway).

Take the quad out to a nice open field. Take off and set the U channel to GPS, hold the quad about 20 feet in front and about 20 feet up. Let go of the sticks while at center throttle and verify the quad "sits" there as it should when U channel is at "GPS"

Now take a deep breath and flip the U channel switch to what you set for "failsafe" The LED on the quad should go to FAST YELLOW. This means failsafe mode is on, and at this point, you will have NO control of the quad. It will rise 60 feet on its own, then fly back to the launch point at 60' (this an obstacle avoidance feature) once directly over the launch point, it will sit there for a few seconds.

Then very slowly, it will start to descend. The descent algorithm is set in the NAZA- you can change this rate in the control panel- but the way it is in the default settings is pretty darned good. Just sit back and watch it land.

ONE NOTE on failsafe-
the controls are locked out when in failsafe.
To regain control in case your quad starts acting funny, or if its heading for an obstacle, you need to switch the U channel to "Atti" for a second to disengage failsafe. Then I suggest you move it to GPS and take over manually.

Once you have done this a few time manually and you are confident with your quads failsafe function, then you can try the same experiment by switching OFF the transmitter. Then sit back and be amazed..LOL

Re: More Naza V1 questions

Ok so I maidened The Naza in my Hexacopter today. Firstly it kept flipping over . Finally figured two props where on wrong. Up up and away holds quite well in gps mode considering the wind we are having. Now any aileron (rt or Lt )in put Hex starts to wobble . So do I have too much gain or not enough.(in either GPS or atti. mode)
Also couple of times went to throttle up and won't ,props turn but won't speed up. Unplug and replug and away it goes

Sounds like too much gain. Drop it down a bit and give it a flight. If not, go down some more. If still not, go the other way and try with added gain.

I'm lucky. I can test fly in my backyard, land, plug into the laptop while still live, adjust gain, and then test fly some more. Can you do that at your place?

Yes I can. I can also adjust gain from my radio.too.
looking at the naza set up it says a 550 quad should be at 170 gain mine is at 135 but a hex. Think its bigger than 550 also.hopefully I can try it indoors tonight
