Re: Postal Insurance<<
Really, this is all just opinion until you've read what Canpost/Fedex has to say, and they spell it all out quite clearly.

Re: Postal Insurance<<
Homme, so what your saying is that on top of everything else, the seller gets my funds and if the parcel is lost or damaged, he is the one who makes a claim and get paid for the loss and/or damage and could possibly pocket that as well, in other words, he can get paid twice for his item and tell the seller to bad??? OH MAN, now that really frazzels me!!
There has got to be some protection for the buyer, especially if he can prove the seller got his funds and he the buyer did NOT get the item he paid for or it was received damaged??? Maybe I should just stick to local sales where I can go to the sellers, inspect the item before paying for it!

How in your way of thinking is the buyer to take the loss because the seller did not put any or adaquate insurance on the parcel? OR even more, that the seller gets your cash AND is able to make a claim and receive the full amount AGAIN and could possibly tell the buyer - " too bad your parcel is lost!" ?? NOT that any of the good folks here would do that, I'm just asking as in this worse case senario! And what "Both losses" would the seller be losing? He already has your cash!

Re: Postal Insurance<<
I have at different times shipped RC Radios One a few years ago went to China or Japan not sure which. All the radios I shipped where sent in the styrofoam package that they came with when you buy them new. If it was just a radio I would cut it down and wrap with duct tape and then wrap it in bubble wrap and box it. In my opinion and I have had a few claims with CP if this radio arrived crushed it was mishandled, claimable. If it arrived and didn't work it was not an insurance problem. You have to remember these radios come from japan on skids and by air or boat. They are trucked to the shipping point and also from the landing point to say Horizon hobbies . I would think that if they are ever going to get jossled, well they did long before you owned it.Yes there are some A... h... working for CP and US mail and uk mail etc etc that would use your parcel as a football ,but as a whole I think that the volume of mail handled the percentage of damage is low. In fact i am waiting to refile a claim for two hats I shipped to Germany that never got there. I have waited over the 45 day period ,unfortunately the division that handles these claims is on strike

Re: Postal Insurance<<
Hi folks,
This thread is getting away from the original issue. Posted here http://www.canadapost.ca/tools/pg/te...2008_STC-e.pdf is the link to some detailed info on CPost services and, specifically, here is the most important part concerning insurance: Quote:

Re: Postal Insurance<<
I sent a Hitec radio to the US. I consider that fragile. It was damaged. The plastic around the handle was cracked . It took a couple of calls to Canada Post(very pleasant). I got approval of the claim very quickly and I received the money. I was the shipper. I got to decide to send the money to the buyer.
It gave me confidence in the system. This is one lone claim of many shipments I have made. The guy turned around then and tried to sell it as "owned for a few years, cracked plastic in storage" and tried to sell for more. He didn't but pi**ed me off. Most Texans are OK. :>) I learned a little more about packing with that incident and will improve the crush resistance next time. Just another note. I received a different brand of item than advertised on Ebay, but fully functional, paid by Paypal. Lodged a dispute and was ruled in my favour. Got a full refund and was informed I should keep the item. Don't bother shipping back. Two good experiences. |
