I wouldn't mind a little draft off of the Annihilator come next week-end.
I will be running some 33:1 fuel in the alley by then.

Sweet Dale, heavy rules!!

I'll make sure the testing blows in your direction.

So testing? The new heavy weight or the 160? Both?

The 160, to begin with. Then my new-to-me engine. After I get a maiden in on my used Ultimate. Then I will honor the graphics. Might happen before Show & Shine. But better to promise later in our busy spring.

I have never seen where DA has ever denied anyone the improvements they have made along the way.

Yes GP is a fine engine, better than the others, or above and beyond...very subjective in my mind!!
Very clear difference... DA knows they have crank issues but are only fixing those motors that are twisted. If you send in a DA200 that is running fine and ask for the crank mod, they will not fix it. I know because I was talking to both Dave and Jeff about Jack M's here.

Remember the 3W ignitions... Similar or even worse than DA.

GP could have done the same and said to me and all the others that have had 0 issues that we do not get a replacement engine. Instead they are giving everyone a new one. In addition, while Fergie was at it, he's tweaked other areas for even more power!!

I don't think that's ever been done before.

I couldn't care less if it was GP of Engine XYZ... This type of competition is good news for all modellers

Well, the first 3W 157 I owned had a crankcase issue. They replaced every crankcase regardless if they were showing symptoms or not. So I don't see GP any better than others Trevor. We also know GP was working on this mod when V1 was being released, so no real surprise.

But kudos to them Trevor for doing a fantastic job.

Ignitions? Yes 3W didn't have the best ignitions at one time. Lots of issues from end user as well. But I was never denied a new one under warranty.

No Trevor, I bought yet another used 3W. I have been installing a 3W106 Redhead in my buddies Extra here. That Redhead is so sexy compared to my 2 Bluehead AI versions. Had to grab the 3W55 that came up last week-end.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

I like the heat here. My question is , has anyone(other then the disty) received this v2 yet?

After some reading on the this issue that plagues this motor seems to have been a remedial design flaw.

In my short time back in this hobby, I am truly disappointed and stunned by with all the fly by night engine producers. Are they making that much money to have soooo much of them ? Or are they just stealing from each other and what the market value is 900 bucks they are able to produce at $100. And don't look at me funny when a 4stroke 100cc knock off generator can be had for under $400 retail. The end user is getting hose IMHO.

Right on Dale That 55 is one sweet motor It came alive on the ES Pipe also! A torque monster and one of the few motors on the ES Pipe that would really wind out in the air!!

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Thank-you Trevor. I have a pair of ES pipes here. The intended airframe is not pipe friendly, Biplane. But there is always the next one, just sitting on a shelf somewhere.
I'm really becoming fond of these old school heavy weights. But find they cut into my quality time once allotted to my G62's.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Absolutely Jack!! The performance enhancements we'll see on the V2 have been in the works for quite some time. However the remedial fix has never been. It was only after the few motors had issues that those boys from the south helped Fergie figure out the issue. Totally stoked that Fergie incorporated everything and is just giving everyone new motors!! That's service that's unheard of. No question the warrantee of the others has been great, but Fergie is doing far more that just warrantee!!

Hanes.. Not sure I understand your point. A number of years ago, there were a lot less mfg's but almost all have been plagued by issues. The risk of being a Beta tester!! Win a few, loss a few. The safe bet is to stick with what is proven.
