Some call me ----! Perhaps they are correct but does anyone else out there keep a logbook. I have accurately keep track of my flights from 1992 to the present. (I have been flying since '82) I can tell you the number of flights I have had per year, flights per plane, flights per crash, number of times at the field, etc., etc. Also in my logbook I keep track of batteries, cost, when purchased, in what plane, discharge info, etc. My servos are logged. When purchased, cost, manufacturer, torque, speed, digital, etc., etc. Plus, I log my planes, cost, when purchased, when ready for flight, weight, tank size, recommended throws, and other tid bits that I think pertinent to the plane. Of course radios and receivers are noted. Might be good to know that I am not alone in this persuit and if by chance I should be logging something that you find useful. Cheers. . .

Re: Am I the only flyer that keeps a logbook?

I started doing this when I first started but never kept it up. To be honest, I wish I would have. It would be cool to take a look at it to see your personal comments and to have the actual data. Good on ya.

Re: Am I the only flyer that keeps a logbook?

Certainly a good idea and especially for battery packs and engines - and interesting for flights accomplished. Note also when battery packs (also Tx packs) were cycled and capacity returned - could save your plane. I keep track of my packs, even in my cordless tools and Gelcells and now that I'm going to fly electric it'll become doubly important. Little Triton Jr's usefulness justifies it's cost here.

I only go to that level for one model. The rest are just foot notes

I've been using RCFlyLog for a little while now. Its nice to keep track of everything. Especially handy for Lipo's.

Have been flying rc since 1964 but only keeping a detailed log since 1995
it is quite interresting when you look back at it
I could not beleive the number of flights I was putting in realy
also keeping a log of every plane, helie and engines I own, big book
67 planes 28 ready to go .197 engines I am nuts, but enjoy every second of it

Re: Am I the only flyer that keeps a logbook?

Well, not as detailed as some, but I do keep a flight log book for each plane. I started subsequent to rebuilding my first trainer after its first major crash. (It's had several since.) I have about ten log books, and since the entries are short and sweet, I flip it over and start another plane's log from the other side; two planes in each book. I use the 6 x 9 inch (approx) journal books I pick up at Wal-Mart.

It is amazing to see how many flights some planes get and how few others get.

Re: Am I the only flyer that keeps a logbook?

A few years ago when I built my Telemaster 40, I decided to keep a log book for this plane. I logged date, length of flight, comments which included any fixes or parts replacements, weather & temp and note each time I started a new jug of fuel.

I flew this plane for 2 1/2 seasons and logged over 450 flights. It was still going strong when I sold it. The little Saito 50 still ran like new even after 450 10 -15 min. flights and believe it or not, it still had the same 500mAH battery pack that I started with.

Now I just keep data on engines and battery packs.
