A perfect day for RC today. After cutting the plywood former in the wing, we were able to slide the battery farther aft to correct the CG. We moved the 5500mah pack another 1cm aft which helps with the inverted flight and knife edge. A simple foam block inserted into the cavity of the wing keeps the battery from moving farther aft than wanted. After a few flights today, I think the battery could go another cm or 2 to get the perfect balance. Thankfully there is that cavity in the wing to take the battery.

Good flying Eric, certainly was a grey overcast day. That EDF unit did sound nice.

Re: FlyFly 90mm Hunter in swiss colours build

Finished off another Hunter we assembled for a fellow club flier. It will be his next EDF challenge after the FW Venom.
We used a HK "Hunter" cockpit to fill in the FF canopy which was kindly donated by another club member. I think it may have been for the Lander version but with some work and plenty of cutting looks quite decent. The unsightly wing joint was covered up with some sheet plastic and once painted should look good. The current camouflage will be redone to grey and green with British roundels. The tanks were missing from this kit but some MB339 tanks donated by another club member fit perfectly. They are held on with magnets embedded into the balsa pylons attaching to rows of staples glued into the wing recesses.
Used a Turnigy 3659 1900kv inrunner in the FlyFly supplied shroud with a FW 6 blade fan. A leftover aluminum spinner finished it off. The ESC is a FW 80amp with an extra heat sink added. The fan pulls 80 Amps at WOT but I think the ESC will be fine exposed to the full duct airflow.
Flaps are made from sheet fiberglass and operate on the same channel as the retracts for simplicity. A multi LED from HK powered through the receiver was glued into the nose gear area. Some thin metal rub strips added in case of nose gear failure.

Re: FlyFly 90mm Hunter in swiss colours build

Eric
you and your Father are an amazing team. For me you're among the best in building and flying. Top-gun title is well deserved here.

Thank you so much for sharing.

Re: FlyFly 90mm Hunter in swiss colours build

Thanks for the kind words Rudy!
We are fortunate to enjoy the same hobby which help with the motivation to get things started, then done. I hope our posts can help others wishing to fly these EDF jets. The learning curve can be costly if you start blind.
