Thumbs up HK Hobby top gun 90mm L-39 motor/fan concern

Just got mine today in the mail! Nice model and great value. Mine came with the supplied 1650kv B3660 EMAX motor and fan.
One note of caution, Take the fan off and reassemble the motor/fan assembly. I found the spinner screw loose and the fan mounting nut loose as well. The set screws holding the 5mm shaft adapter were loose as well! An accident waiting to happen. I removed the two screws holding the motor on and replaced them with some that had a larger head to spread the load onto the plastic (using locktite). I also wrapped the motor with tape until it fit snug into the shroud to make it more secure. With only two mounting screws you must make every effort to stop the motor from moving or the plastic will crack and destroy the entire fan. I tested the balance and the fan was fine. I should mention that I had to replace the fan mounting nut as it was such poor quality the hole off center (and would cause imbalance)!
Cheers

Re: HK Hobby top gun 90mm L-39 motor/fan concern

$171.34 for plane with motor/fan and servos
$ 36.55 for 85A ESC
$ 67.93 shipping
--------
$reasonable$
I bought the air fly fly knockoffs and fittings separately for $12.68 pair (bought 2 sets) and transferred the steering assembly from the fly fly nose gear. Won't use the fly fly electrics in future builds as they don't last without a lot of maintenance. The gear legs on this AC are better than the sabre with larger main wheels. Nose has 3mm wire and mains 4mm so the main retracts will have to be drilled out for the larger wire.
Cheers

Re: HK Hobby top gun 90mm L-39 motor/fan concern

Did some testing on the stock fan and motor. Only about 1100watts on 6S. Will swap out the assembly for something more powerful. May end up getting another Freewing 90mm fan and motor as it works well in my F86. The new style 90mm Fly Fly fan is not bad but the shroud already has cracks developing after little running time (I tossed mine in the garbage). The $20 90mm fans I've bought elsewhere are far better quality.
The free fan and motor with the L-39 are best regarded as not usable.
Cheers
