250 quad build with questions
I am getting start on my 250 build and before I go much further I need to iron out the wiring. This is what my build with consist of:
QAV250 Carbon frame Cobra 2204 1960kv motors Rotorgeeks 12A BLHeli ESC V4 - Quadpack Acro Naze 32 Mini OSD Mobius Camera for aerial video Mini 5.8G TS5823 32CH Video Audio 200mW Wireless Transmitter Sony Super HAD CCD 600TVL FPV IR Block Camera 2.8mm Lens for FPV Boscam GS920 goggles My initial plan was to use a power distribution board but last minute I decided to make my own harness as it will be better protected against water. The harness is done, soldered the motors to the escs and verified prop direction. The harness will be connected to 1 3S lipo with a line out for the vTx and another line out for the Sony FPV Camera. I will also make a LC Filter for a clear video image. Does the camera and vTx both require a filter from the lipo? Does anyone have a diagram handy the would include 1 Lipo, mini OSD, Vtx, camera and LF Filter? Now that the hardness is done I don't think I should use the two lines coming out to feed the camera and vTx separately. I should probably just use one feed to the LC Filter connected to the OSD and from there power the camera and vTx. Am I on the right track? Something else I may do is combine a voltage regulator with my filter in case I use a 4S lipo down the road. Than I can decrease voltage to the vTx and camera. My radio system is Graupner so I can use sumd which will only require one cable to run all the escs. |

Re: 250 quad build with questions
If you are going to run a filter, then you should power both the cam and VTX from the filter.
Used to be a time when I only powered my FPV gear from a separate battery. It was the only way to ensure clean power to the VTX/Camera. On my current 250, I dont do anythng- I just run a spare lead from the harness to the VTX. I'm using an Aomway VTX that has a power-out connection for powering the camera. I have had no issues with any static on my outdoor flights. Quote:

Re: 250 quad build with questions
Ideally I would like to test the video before installing everything but I am waiting for my goggles to show up. I will probably add the LC filter just to be safe. My vTx does not have a video out but my camera is 12v.

Re: 250 quad build with questions
Looks similar to my build on paper. I'll be running this as a filter: http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...2S_3S_4S_.html
Connects directly to your balance port on your lipo, which is nice because you can choose when to power on the video system by plugging it in or not (I use a switch on my larger frame) |

I see the link mentions they now make it with a 4S port as well, but they also warn you to check your video equipment to make sure it will handle the voltage. So it would indicate that all it does is filter. It would be nice if they incorporated a selectable voltage regulator into the device as well, so that guys like me can have the benefit of a filtered power source AND drop it down to 6V for hardware that is 6V instead of 12V.

Re: 250 quad build with questions
For the step down voltage regulator I bought a 5 pack of these for less then the HK unit.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/370891446922...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I want to setup my quad so I can run either a 3S or 4S pack. I have two power leads coming out of my wiring harness. One for a 3S pack without a regulator and a second power lead for 4S that will regulate the current down to 12v to power the vTx and camera. |

Re: 250 quad build with questions
As I am working on my build I am rethinking my plans. Is there a preference of installing the esc on the arms or in the body?
