Corona 2.4 Ghz modules and rx's
I'm curious if any one has any of these and are using them? Their reliability, any known issues, etc., etc. They seem to be priced quite reasonable and I am considering going to 2.4 on this route. I have a 9C radio that is currently on 72Mhz.
Any feedback or comments are welcome. This 2.4 stuff is new to me, so tell me what you honestly think of these sets. Thanks in advance!!

Re: Corona 2.4 Ghz modules and rx's
Hi Greg,
I have the same radio and switched to the Corona 2.4, have been flying all summer no problems....... awesome price to change over, make sure it is version 2 (V2) you can't mix V1 and V2, Hobby City has the TX module and a receiver for around $50-60, and extra receivers for around $22-24. hope this is of some help. Harold

Re: Corona 2.4 Ghz modules and rx's
There are several other members of our geritol group who flew almost every morning this summer using the corona stuff in cap 9's without any problems.
I say "others" as sugarpops hasn't quite reached the geritol stage yet....close though. He does fly with us occasionally on the weekends. important: if you continue to use your 72 meg now and then in that cap9 remember to put your antenna up!!!

Re: Corona 2.4 Ghz modules and rx's
Thanks for the replies. I was a bit leary of them; not being one of the "brand name" leaders in tx and rx electronics. The way I see it, if they do work that good, I'll be able to switch to 2.4 cheaper than I can continue with 72 Mhz. I bought a synthesized Futaba tx module for $ 80.00, if my memory serves me correct. And I can get a Corona 2.4 tx module and rx for probably less than what I paid for just the synthesized 72 Mhz module.
So, I'm assuming my antenna for 72 Mhz can remain intact in my radio then? It would not come into play until i swapped the 2.4 module with the 72 Mhz module. With this being the case, who said switching over from 72Mhz to 2.4Ghz has to break the bank? I guess it all depends on how many planes one has that are currently running on 72Mhz. I honestly think this is the way I'm going to go. Can't beat the price; that's foresure!! Harold, I do believe this is the radio I purchased from you last year. Still works 100%!!

Re: Corona 2.4 Ghz modules and rx's
Just wondering how you distinguish V1 from V2 series. I've been looking around and haven't been able to find any info on what software version they are running on.
Any ideas on this??

Re: Corona 2.4 Ghz modules and rx's
I have v.1, and I cannot get any receivers.
I think I've stated this before on RCC, bought it, plugged it in to my 9z, and took a walk. The transmitter was sitting in my second story window, I have overhead power lines here, live on a major street in the SW corner of Toronto, have loads of WiFi access points in the neighbourhood (checked with WiFiFoFum). I had a solid lock for about eight hundred meters with it in my shirt pocket, the 9z was set to servo test (slowly waggles all servos). Later on I read of problems with v.1 like low voltage lock-out, bad failsafe, and Corona came out with v.2 Last month HC got a shipment of v.1 receivers, I bought two. (I also play around with the HobbyCity 2.4 (made by Flysky)) - Eric This guy knows his stuff and is willing to lab test as well as field test: http://www.rcmodelreviews.com/
