MCCOY 35 REDHEAD
May be a stupid question, but where does the fuel go in. I have one of these with no needle valve and no opening at the bottom of the air horn to let fuel and air into the crank????
There is also no trace of soot on the inside of the exhaust port or inside the head. Is it possibly an engine that has never been run??? |

The fuel tubing goes on the end of the needle valve assembly, which you are missing, correct? Never been run, possible, maybe it was a hanger queen. A picture may help me to help you. I have some McCoy NVA's and or can make them.

MCCOY REDHEAD
There is no hole leading from the base of the air horn into the crankcase, therefore no fuel can get in the engine. It's like this engine was never finished??

Mcoy 35
Hi there boy did you ever bring back some memorys of the late fiftys when the Mcoy 35 was made and sold for $7.50 . We used these engines for U/Control planes. I may have a needle valve for it if you need it contact me. These engines would back fire and flame up if primed up too much [ head prime through exhaust stack] causing a clear blue flame barely seen but very hot . These engines lasted about two seasons then lost allot of compression and were hard to start. Needle setting was about 21/2 to 3 turns to get it started and use castor fuel to run engine. The needle valve goes in the 1/8 inch hole in carburetor body and the small hole in the n/valve body faces down towards crankshaft . Hope this helps .

Turn the crankshaft a bit and then you will see the cut out in the crank that leads into the crank case.

REDHEAD
There is a hole in the crank leading to the rear of the crankcase. There is no hole at the bottom of the airhorn to get fuel into that hole in the crank!
When you force air into the airhorn it is air tight??? (no matter what the orientation of the crank.) chevpro |
