A 1/4" torque wrench is going to be pretty expensive to be accurate. Its a pretty specialized tool. We use one at work to measure running torque on thrust reversers that are cable driven.

John, you might be better off to see if you can borrow one for a short time, do you know anyone in the aviation industry, or who is a "mental machinist" nearby?

Good luck, Daren

No arguments here... of course, there's a (huge) difference in price too.

I don't have a source from which I can borrow a high-end torque wrench so I picked one up from Princess Auto. It is certified to be calibrated; I forget the error percentage but even one I found online for several hundred dollars is still +/- 4%.

As for the bits, I have ordered metric and imperial sets from Wiha Canada. I did find a decent 3mm bit at a place in town but it's imbedded in a 3/8" drive socket and needed a step-down adapter to work with the torque wrench - $16 for the two items (more than I paid for my CT metric and imperial sets combined!). The Wiha stuff was much more reasonable.

So, I'm waiting. For bits, adapter, prop, spinner...

I knew those test results were around here somewhere:

If my math is correct this unit tested within +/- 2%.

Re: AMR Trainer 26 - (my) official build thread

Good find John, I wasn't sure if Power Fist would have one. I haven't been there in a few months. That looks like it will be accurate enough. I have some Wiha standard allen head drivers, they are nice, and also have a guarantee for replacement.

Just heard from Wiha that part of my shipment is back ordered for three weeks.

However, I did discover some bits that will do in the meantime. In my toolbox, no less!

In a test they didn't cam out.

Re: AMR Trainer 26 - (my) official build thread

John,

Are you all fixed and when will you come out to the field to fly. I would love to see this beast of a trainer fly.

Re: AMR Trainer 26 - (my) official build thread

Everything's back together.

You may notice the 18 x 8 Xoar on the front - it's a size issue. The recommended prop for a DLE 30 is an 18 x 8 2-blade, and a 16 x 8 three-blade is just too small.

I will say that I think the look suits the airplane!

Now it's just a matter of finding time. Most nights I don't get home until 5:30, so evening flying is not easy... and we're away for the next two weekends.

Awesome. The Ed Rae Fun Fly was awesome. I Flew my trainer buddy boxed amonst the big guys. Haha..not intimidated at all. I flew it high. Lots of fun learning.
Just to make yoy feel better...I crashed my build on take off. No screw in wing servo horn. Lifted off and banked right. Hit ground hard..but it is re buildable.
The club lent me a trainer to use until I get it back to normal.

Good to hear. If Sunday's weather holds up I should be at the field for another shot.
