Re: Blade stop

That was definitely pretty impressive! That would take a bit of practice, I think.

Re: Blade stop

Very possible, common almost.

In some of his autos, Curtis Youngblood does three or more blade stops on the way down.
If you try it, make sure you've got lots of altitude, it's possible to get into a knife edge position while falling where you can't get the blades wound up again.

Re: Blade stop

And make sure your blade grips are nice and tight. But not too tight!

.....Unless you take it off throttle hold.... Hard to tell if a guy does that on an electric heli. When a guy SHUTS DOWN a nitro heli and does a blade stop..that's when I am impressed.

Re: Blade stop

The slow spool on the kontronik esc's most higher end electrics use is about 8 seconds. When you do any kind of auto, you're pretty much commited.

Re: Blade stop

Blade stops are hit or miss. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes not. Spooling back up can throw links from wobble etc even if the blades are locked down, knowing when to bring the engine back in and how slow (when it gets nasty) can be hit or miss too. More luck than skill if you ask me and it's more like a parlor trick.
