So this is everyone's chance to make their voice heard. If there's something that needs to be considered than it will be looked at and implemented if it makes sense. But with flashlights making a big time comeback we here at RCPC know WHY it's coming back (brushless and LiPo tech) and we want to embrace this technology. But in order to do that, we need to hear from the racers. We here in Canada pretty much get to start fresh and make some of our own rules. So let's hear it everyone! What do you want to see in your electric series? The input so far is going in the right direction so let's keep it going. We can make this series the type of series everyone will want to race in. regards speed metal

This is all that is needed to know. Other than that, I would extend qualifying to 6 minutes and also have longer mains (10 minute A Mains, 8 minute B Mains and 6 minute C and on).

I agree with Johnny and many others in this thread. With NIMH batteries in the 36,42,46 range and up to 8000 mah lipo's, the qualifying and race times should indeed be increased. Leave the classes open. If I could, I'd run electric all day long. Charge the packs and go! No clutch setup, motor tuning or even flame outs. Only reason to run my nitro is the 30/1hr mains!! We've got these wonderful high-mah packs out there, lets use them!

This is great guys. I am pushing to bring electric racing back bigtime right now. All the old schoolers from way back are getting in. It's the 5 min runs for electrics and having to marshal a nitro main for 45 mins that does it in for many electric guys.
I have 2 brushless rc's myself, one lipo other nmh. I can do a 20 min race with the nmh powered b44 I am sure. we do 8 min qualifiers and mains now in the indoor electric only events. we have no caps on anything. I was using 5k lipos in the xxx4. I think if I ran 4k lipos in the b44 I'd have to add weight just to get compression on the shocks LOL I think 10-20 min electric mains might bring the class back bigtime. It sure helps at club racing to have some breaks between the nitros too for checking rc's and charging rx packs. and it's simple plug and play fun. passing truggies on a straight with a 10th scale is fun, so the performance from today's electronics has come a long way. power and efficiency. it doesn't much make sene to me to keep trying to push brushed motors into racing like some organizations do ... they are costly and inefficient and holding back. I think if it's mod, then it's mod. run what ya brung, and bring it on. no motor limits, no brand exclusions, and battery limits don't matter because there is no benefit other than weight. keep tire rules, weight rules, chassis etc and safety stuff in place, but open up the electronics. the hardcores want to just race a decent main so they get a reasonable value for their dollar for track fees. also food for thought... let electric classes corner marshall for electrics and the nitros for nitros too |

Electric racing is making a big comeback here. The only hurdle is the tracks now being more designed for 1/8 buggy and monster truck, but the directors are looking at ways to improve the designs. The die hard nitro guys are hard to sway sometimes, but I think it's destiny. I have 4 brushless buggies now and am loving it.... I need to get a couple saddles from Dominic next for my B44 so all are lipo powered
anyway. it looks like everyone is on the same page when it comes to mah ratings, weight and giving longer runtimes. Electric racing is not the red headed step child anymore. We need to put things in place to make it more appealing to bring drivers in. For those that want to run an rtr type rc, we need a novice class with shorter runtimes and a lesser entry fee to get them hooked. then when it's time, they can get a brushless motor and good batteries and come join the mod class (or spec stock etc with longer runtimes) |

...it's funny...I actually don't like the idea of OPEN classes. Is it fair that a novice is running their 2WD 13.5 against experinced 2WD 6.5 racers? I think restrictions should be in place like buggy...have a sportsman class.
I believe this where we can take lessons learned. Look at the Tamiya Mini class. Level playing field. Inexpensive. Fun. |
