here is a shot of the belly, with retract wells, and the pipe tunnel. Wayne modified it beautifully to suit my retract and pipe. fuse need paint now and then it will be ready to set up and test fly! Hopefully in a few more weeks.

Well, finally got it out tonight for a few test flights... it was our club meeting night and there were quite a few guys out, and flying.

To put it bluntly, this thing flies great! I had thought I was adding a bit too much nose weight, but wanted to keep the CG at the recommended start position. It needed quite a bit of up trim and when inverted quite a lot of down, and it didnt seem too touchy so I will take a few ounces out at a time untill it flies upright and inverted with little trim difference.

It is a smooth, stable plane, and tracks well, but very quick in the snaps! I allmost lost it on the first flight, tried some extended knife edge, it rolled out of it and went inverted, but it took me a second to realise if it was upright or inverted - I managed to roll upright and pull out with maybe 2 feet to spare before I was in the field! Good thing I have great nerves and didnt panic. 2nd flight was fine, but I need to loose some nose weight and change back to my 11-8 prop. I tried a 12-8 but the old Rossi was designed to turn up into the mid teens and doesnt like to be bogged down, wont come on the pipe either.

So, another sweet plane added to my arsenal. Hopefully will get a few more flights before the end of the season. Oh yeah, the Rhom air retracts worked great.

Andrew

Wow, that's a great looking plane! Nice color scheme too.

Yeah, its kind of "chipmunk-ish" in the way the cowl looks, and the fuse is a bit "zlin-ish"...

I picked the colors (monokote white, red and saphire blue) but Wayne did the scheme. He did a great job I am very pleased.
