LOL!!! Stay tuned Jack in the next few minutes - I'll upload some pics of the motorbox all together and it's definitely American meets German, LOL!! With this multinationalism, I hope it flies OK!!!

Re: 58% Modellbau Pitts Build Thread - BBT

Alright - here are a few pictures of the new motorbox all together and reinforced with tri-stock on the inside. I also took a page out of Carden's books and used some square hardwood stock on the inside and pinned it will some screws. The entire motorbox was put together with 30 minute Epoxy.

You can see the 3.5° right thrust and if you look closely there is also 1° of up thrust!

I kept the top plate solid, since I need to mount (2) ignition modules to the plate.

Re: 58% Modellbau Pitts Build Thread - BBT

And here are a few shots of the motorbox temporarily in place on the front of the fuse.

I really liked Modellbau's use of a ring around the back of the motorbox, so I re-used this ring on the new box (the ring is epoxied to the box and pinned with 12 screws and I will also reinforce various joints soon with carbon fiber!!).

The ring allows me to get everything aligned and I can even check the cowl/motor/fuse centerline without being committed. I can also get the exact opening figured out for the tuned pipes and then take the m-box back off and cut the entry area without obstruction!!

Eventually, I will epoxy / screw / reinforce with carbon once all the checks are done!

Re: 58% Modellbau Pitts Build Thread - BBT

Oh, ya!!!

The 3W220 is bolted on and the headers are installed!! Now I can see where I have to open up the front of the fuse to allow for the KS1090 tuned pipes!
