Have your ever tried molding hatches using fiber glass cloth and monocoat. Easy way to make perfect hatches weather the surface is flat or multi-compound curve. Held on by either magnets or hinged. No special materials or equipments. I started to mention it while i was over the other day but didn't go into detail. Would look way cool under the cabanes for easy access to the tanks and other stuff tucked uder the hood. The pics below are from my 1/7th scale P-40 and 1/5th scale WACO. Brad,
This going to and from work with the sun up is still new to me. Still trying to figure out what the bright thing in the sky is. My kids are trying to convince me it is something called a "SUN". After working 13 years of nights, I've only seen pictures of this thing. What are you doing thursday night? Unfortunately I'm commited(or should be at times) until then. Like i said these hatches are super easy and I bet you have all you need in your workshop to do these. With the advent of smaller and stronger magnets these hatches are even easier.

Got a few minutes in during lunch time and after picking the kids up from school.

I drew up a template for a 3 bottle cradle.
Then I edge glued some 1/4 inch balsa to make it tall enough.

Cut the 2 pieces out and did a test fit to see if everything would fit under the front turtle deck above the cannisters.

It does Yaaaaayyyyyyy !!!!!!

Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the pieces by themselves.
But right now, they are under weight as the expoxy cures.....
Because I laminated them with CARBON FIBER !!!!!

I didn't have any 1/8 plywood to use. So I decided balsa would be nice and light. But balsa on its own won't hold 12 lbs of liquid in a snap roll

So it gets the Carbon Fiber treatment
I will pull them out later before the epoxy fully cures and edge trim everything with a razor blade.

Not going to be home for the evening. So installing them will wait for tomorrow.

Got the Carbon laminated balsa out from under the blocks.
The epoxy was still flexible, bit no longer tacky..... Perfect for trimming.
Trimed the excess material away with a #11 blade.
Now the pieces sit until fully cured and hardened. At that point I will touch them up with a dremel and sanding drum, because right now they look a little rough LOL.

With all the bling you guys are adding to your projects my ARf is going to look pretty plain. Once those dry and you trim the edges they are going to look snazzy.
