Motor/ESC setup for a cheap 27" cat

As the title says I had a no-name cat about 27" drop into my hobby room.

It's set up for dual motors and has been upgraded with a couple of Titan 12T's.

I'd like to use either a single 2-cell lipo pack or maybe 2 packs in series for power.

Any thoughts on a reasonably inexpensive ESC for this set-up? Or should I be looking for new motors as well?

It's only a cheap plastic hull, not fibreglass, so I don't want to break the bank on this project.

Thanks in advance for advice,

Narly1

I'm not sure if it's suited to boat use, but the Traxxas EVX-2 springs to mind. It has dual motor outputs, and is rated for 16.8v They're plentiful, reasonably inexpensive and the newer models are even waterproof.

Just a note, the EVX-2 does NOT have low voltage detection, so you can't run lipos.

Thanks...plus it's about 2x as much as I'd want to spend....I only have $20 in the boat.

I know this is old but, I believe I know the boat you speak of. It is an ABC Hobby Volan and originally had two silver can 550s and dual mechanical speed controls. I'd recommend a no limit brushed esc and run both motors on it. A no limit esc will handle the two motors without problem. It is very light and doesn't handle a ton of power. With both props turning the same way, it has a tendency for a lot of steering in one direction.

Cheers
