Newb Question re: Channels
Well, I got my first fpv set up in the mail. I'm just experimenting for now so I cheaped out a little. I went with the quantum goggles and the RC832 5.8 rx/tx/camera set.
I got it all hooked up and it seems to be working good. But my question is what is the difference between all the channels. This combo has 32 possible channels to choose from. Does it affect the range/quality etc? Sorry for the dumb questions. Newb I know |

Re: Newb Question re: Channels
I am assuming you are referring to frequency hopping over 32 channels ? as 32 hopping channels should be fine . Just a question... will you be flying with a qualified on equipment r/c pilot when flying FPV ? Other question would be; check the wattage output as some systems, because you are transmitting video back, a ham radio operators licence may be required or at least a ham radio licenced person attending each time you are out. Not illegal to own but check with the requirements to operate.

Re: Newb Question re: Channels
What I mean is there are 32 user selectable channels. I don't believe they are hopping as I have to select the channel I want. I just don't know what the difference is between them. Yes we are qualified operators. The system is 200mW

nope, bad post. 1/ all the FPV video systems out there are NOT frequency hopping They are not digital, they are analog, wide bandwidth, in NTSC or PAL format. 2/ All the FPV equipment out there (that is safe and worth using) requires a HAM license to use legally. (and even then it is a grey area) 3/ Buffy is correct. The 32 channels available on the current crop of analog 5.8G equipment all work approximately the same. HOWEVER, your antenna will be made to work better in a narrower set of frequencies. With good antennas there is significant spread of channels that can be used with good results, but there will always be some that are a bit far from the ideal frequency for any given antenna. note: always turn on your receiver/display first and check that no one else is using the frequency, and even that doesn't guarantee you won't shoot them down when you power up your vTx. Be careful, follow HAM principles Last edited by bcsaltchucker; 04-25-2015 at 05:56 PM. |
