4 strokes
Hi Ed, Maybe I should have elaborated and added "In a large scale warbird" re- 180mph! you slow poke.... you aint lived till youve tried a 30 lb thrust turbine powered F-16 crusing by at 2/3 throttle doing 220+mph...
Actually speaking of pylon racers you reminded me of a 1/4 midget mustang I once had, just for fun I installed an O.S. 29 4-stroke in it to see how quick it would be??? funny thing was it was nearly as quick as my mates Q500 with a piped YS 45 |

The high fuel consumption problem will not exist if the engine is coverted to spark ignition instead of glow. I'm suprised Saito did'nt factory install it. In my experience the fuel consumption is cut in half when on spark. I have a number of 150's and 180's on spark and I get very good mileage. I can also get away with much less oil which is the most expensive component in our fuels. Notice the Fuji engine mentioned above is on spark and they claim better mileage then a two-stroke. "incredible fuel consumption". I think high fuel consumption is a factor of glow ignition.....not four stroke design. I think the new Saito will be a winner in those large models that previously needed a heavy 2-stroke gasser.

Would like to know more about the Honda, however I am really leary about these weed-eater motors.....I bought a Riobi weed eater new just to get the four-stroke out of it.....it turned out to be very heavy and produced very little jam for the size of it. They had made the valves very small and the compression low in order to make the engine last longer as used in a weed eater. It weighed way more than a Saito 150 and would not turn the same prop. I'm also doubtfull about the wet sump oil system.....besides adding more weight, I wonder if it can withstasnd being inverted for any length of time?? The Riobi would have made a good tug-boat motor.....I put it back together and still use it as a weed eater. I could'nt find any specs for the Saito 220 but I think you will find it to be very light for the power it puts out. The guy in the video says the Honda swings a 18 X 8 prop at 6000.........Not impressive !! My Saito 150 will do that !!
