Well, just thought i would let everybody know that if your thinking of
getting a hoffman fan/motor .....DON'T DO IT.
After waiting to afford 40c lipos, resoldering All connections the stupid thing
would not go above 1/2 throttle then cut out.(since new).
Neeless to say it let all of the smoke out in a hurry.PURE CRAP

Good thing they went under eh?
They surely dodged my bullets.

Go little screamers or het
My het 2w-20 has maybe 350 flights using 4-5 cells and still makes over 900watts

Re: Hoffman Storm HW= CRAP

It's their Storm HW integrated fan&motor.
Which is their wild beast motor with their fan.
I am running a cc125 amp esc,cc BEC ,XPS platnum pro 40c+ 5000mah 4cell
lipo.
My watt meter read 1871.6 watts /129.35 amps the FIRST time i ran it up,last year. The first flight should have clued me in when i went to launch, it
cut out as i went to F/T, So I throttled back and then immediatly to F/T again
and it was good so i let it go.
Half way through the flight it did it again, I then blamed it on the lipo's i was using.
Now after several run ups with the watt meter , it wouldn't throttle up past
half
and was only hitting around 90-96 amps and 12-1300watts when it cut out then of course the last of say 4 atemps the motor let out more smoke than the snowbirds (not kidding).
I then unpluged the batt and sat silent for a monent then said a bunch of stuff i can't say here and now don't know what to do, other than shelf it
and wait to buy a jet sceream 1400 or Het 1w-30.
Casset,My HET 2w-20 is in a delta v ,so 68mm yes, the hoffman is 70mm

Re: Hoffman Storm HW= CRAP

I've used countless JS1400's. They are rated for 1400watts (as per the name) but I've driven them way over 2000 without issues. They are by far one of the strongest and robust motors you can buy. Especially for the price.

Re: Hoffman Storm HW= CRAP

Awesome Glenn,
So what fans do you run them in? 6904?
What airframes also(just curious)

Those lipos ROCK by the way, thanks again.
they're the key to make this F-18 rip, along with a new js1400 of course.

As bad as it sucked to smoke this motor.....It sure looked SWEET

Re: Hoffman Storm HW= CRAP

6904 or Wemo. Both work really well. The best IMO though has been the Aluminum Lander Housing with a Wemo fan. It was unstoppable.

And yup those packs are nutty. XPS makes some GOOD gear for a decent price.

Re: Hoffman Storm HW= CRAP

I found the Hoffman motors to be just bad. They draw WAY too many amps for the power that they put out.

Hey Mike remind me, it's the F-18 70mm you have right? Be careful with your throttle with the JS1400 and the 3200mah packs. At WOT the JS will suck back the juice quickly. You will have awesome power (like really awesome) but shorter flights. Just a heads up on that.

Re: Hoffman Storm HW= CRAP

Yep 70mm hornet
Thanks for the heads up Glenn
I was sort of expecting 3 1/2 min?

Yeah after I tested some things with these XPS's,I went strait to their site
and ordered a 5000mah 4cell platnium 40c,so hope fully that would solve
the run time a bit.

My goal wasn't really to go fast but be able to slow it down and have the
ability to go balistic from high aoa, just like the passes at the airshow.
