I need information for transport turbine airplane

My friend is truck driver and he can bring me the airplane from BC to ON, but he hadn't have done yet anything like that. He is usually driving thru the US. He can stick airplane in the Cabin.

My question is: What he needs to do at the US boarder and Canada border to declare that airplane so there is no duty or hard time from Customs. Did somebody transport like that and what had to been done?

I do not want to put him in the trouble or any big hassle.

Re: I need information for transport turbine airplane

Just get him to take the jet into the Canada Customs building before entering the States and they will issue a yellow sticker to show that it originated in Canada. Have them put it inside the fuselage where the canopy fits so you don't see the sticker afterwards. I have taken many trips with competition airframes across and back this way. Never a jet mind you but I can't see it being any different just because of the power plant. Best to call your local Customs agency just to be sure though.

Cheers

MJ

Re: I need information for transport turbine airplane

Hummm if he was only going accross the boarder once i would say don't worry really but because he's going accross twice and probably within 72hrs he's probably going to have to declare it. I would make sure he has a bill of sale stating the place of purchase etc so that no one can question were it was purchased......might be worth a call to the Boarder just to be sure as you probably wouldnt want to stung with taxes etc.....

OK, I will call them, I'm not worried about Canada Custom but for the US entry point.CBP are little bit sensitive, and I understand why. I'll try to call Canada Customs and I'll see what they can tell me about it.
Thanks

Re: I need information for transport turbine airplane

OK so I called both Customs:
So generally mjohnson is right. Just you needs go to the Canada Custom Building before passing to the US and ask them for If I got that right Temporary Import Form/Permit (they will issue paperwork) and that you need when you are coming back to Canada.

For US CBP you need that Canada Custom Paperwork and Lady on the phone said in my case I need Notarized Power of Attorney to the Driver to Transport that Airplane. Probably best way will be Bill of Sale.

Shoudn't be a problem, but you never know.
