my first build (edited, i flew)

i'm rushing to finnish my first build. spring is here and my on&off building motivation has set me back.

after spending last night trying to get the lines matched up from the fuel tank hatch, to the fuse, to the wing; i think i burned out...

hence no motivation tonight.

anyone else ever get like this? know spring is here, i want to fly, but burned up my motivation to build.

i'll be back at it tomorrow night.

here is a pic i took. bob the builder is my pilot, he needs some trimming still, and i have the orange covering to have checkerboard tail feathers to match his shirt.

it actually looks much better in reall life, the lines are straight and not jagged. its sitting on my poor man's sanding table (cheap fan from princess auto $8, hard board from revy $10, left over twelve volt adapter free, left over peg board free, furnace filters $20 (two stage), clean air priceless!)

later

Good stuff Salty! I think we all go through that process once in awhile. I get into building streaks and work like mad for a few days then it fizzels out and I hardly look at it for another week and so the up and down life of my shop experience.

Looks like a neat model, pretty good job for your first build! You sound like your having fun with it and thats all that matters. Wait till you take it out for your first flight and all the work will be worth while. I have built and assembled a few dozen planes in the 13 years or so in the hobby and I still get excited when I take a new plane out for its first flight!

Tomorrow I am going out for the first time this spring and flying two new planes for their maden flights. A Great Planes J3 Cub and a SPAD Debonair, both have .46 2 stroke engines.

Keep up the good work and please let us know how it flies! And if it crashes, well Bob the Builder can help you fix it up...LOL

Common pattern.
The more I feel the need to get an aircraft finished, the less motivated I am to work on it....
It used to drive me nuts until I realized the pattern. These days I don't impose any deadline and the work smoothly flows off the building board and into the sky. When I get frustrated with a model, I start working on another. Eventually I get to a point where I'm avoiding the 2nd and go back to the first (or start a third ).
I'm not a quick builder, but I do enjoy it.

Best of Luck.

As has been said, if you want to always build fast, frustration slows you down.

Enjoy the build and remind yourself that it will fly "eventually"

building

This is a common feeling, i have a hiperbipe that i have been building for almost 3 years now, i build in 2 week spurts, it would only take a few days to finish it, but i can never get around to it, and now that spring is here, its flyin time.

found a little motivation lately

found a little motivation after the post, finnished all the essential covering, working on the last bits of trim. servos installed, pushrods, flying wires (need pollishing). working on the tail, that Bob the Builder is pretty flamboyant!

waiting for a super tigre 51 in the mail, what props do i need for breakin and flight? shuld the prop used for break in be heavier, lighter, or does it matter? i seem to remember something on the subject but i can't find it anymore.

engine specs...

The engine specs for the prop on 1 of the web hobby sites is unusual. It lists a 10-6 prop which seems small for that engine size. If it were mine I would throw on a MAS 11-5 for both break in and running and have fun!

bob is hell of a pilot

bob the builder is hell of a pilot, but he spent his first flights of the season trimming his plane, then he did a bunch of approaches, and later he tried out rolls, inverted flight, inside and outside loops.
