Servo installation

Hook up your servos to you radio system to center them and istall the servo horns, the servo location is my own idea but it makes it easy to install and service, if you want to use the pull-pull method, you might have to choose a different location.

All you need to secure them is a small bead of hot glue on each side of the serrvo under the fuselage for the aileron servo and a small bead of hot glue on one side of the servos under the fuselage for the elevator and rudder.

The reason for the servos to be installed now is that it will be a little bit harder when the upper part of the fse is installed but it can also be done after.

Upper half of fuselage

Glue the upper half of the fuselage by applying a small bead of hot glue between the lines drawn earlier as a guide, fust glue 5 or 6 inches at a time and keep an eye on the vertical alignment.

Glue the rear section of the fuselage to the bottom section as shown on the picture.

Motor mount

If required, sand the front of the fuselage to obtain a better fit for the motor mount, just remember that there is some right thrust built into the fuselsage but no down thrust.

Make the motor mount using 1/16 in. ply and a 1 5/8 in hole saw, or use a jigsaw or even a bandsaw, the o.d. should be around 1 7/16 in.

Use the plywood motor mount to draw lines on a piece of foam and cut 4 pieces as shown.

Motor mount

Glue the 4 pieces of foam to the fuselage, don't worry which side is showing, it doesn't seem to make a difference, if you hit something hard enough, the mount will come off.

Glue the motor mount to the fuselage with hot glue.

Velcro

Cut one piece of velcro 1/2 in. x 2 in for the battery and two pieces of 1/2 in. x 1 in for the receiver and the ESC

Install the 2 in. piece on the right side of the fuselage for the battery, one piece of 1 in. right behind the motor mount for the ESC and another piece of 1 in. for the receiver ahead of the landing gear.

Th piece velcro for the battery is a bit longer than needed just in case you use a 460 mA instead of a 360mA, it has to go back a bit for proper CG location.

Radio installation


Install the motor, the ESC, the receiver and the battery.

Control horns

Cut 4 pieces of foam, 1/2 in. x 1 1/2 in. for control horns as shown and partially split them with an Xacto knife for the ins tallation of the CF rods.

Install 4 pieces of 1 1/4 in. of 1mm. CF rod and hot glue them inside the slots made earlier in the pieces of foam we will use for control horns.

Make sure approx. 3/8 in. sticks out of the horns for the clear tubing.

Control rods

Fabricate 4 pieces of .032 in. piano wire with a Z bend at one end.

Attach the CF rods to the Z bends using heat shrink tubing and CA

Hook up the CF rods to the servos with the Z bends

Control rods and control horns

Install the control horns using the CF rods for alignment, the end of the rods on the horns should line up with the hinge line.

Activate the radio to center the servos during the hook up of the control rod.

Cut the control rods even with the hinge line, sharpen the rods a little bit to insert the smaller clear tubing at least 1/2 in. onto the rod.

Hook up the tubing to the control horns CF rod, inserting at least 3/8 in adjust the tubing and rods for neutral at the control surfaces,.

Side Force Generators

Install the SFG's using a rectangular piece of foam for proper alignment and glue in place as shown on the completed pictures.
