we use calcium

its expensive you need 10 lge bags at about $20.00 per bag to do a good job that lasts if you do it at nite the dew hits it and it sinks right in.
any corrosive effects we noticed were only if the car got wet from dew and wasn't cleaned off for a weeek.

the effect of all the dust running thru the bearings and especially the motors far outweights any corrosive issues. but water is good if you have access to it.
