It would have to be only a year old, or there abouts. The new 210 came out a while after the 180 did.

Doug, you had, may still have the 210 RV-J correct?

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Ya Jack! I'm with Brad on the 180 vs 210!! if you go the 210, you might as well get a smooth quad since the weight is similar. I flew Brian's Sukhoi / ZDZ210 at Nall and it was very nice but not my first choice. That big 210 made it feel heavy and the vibs were pretty substantial... We leaned it out a lot prior to the maiden and it got better but certainly not smooth like the 180 and was like a big diesel in the air.

I'm 110% confident the 180 on pipes will outperform the ZDZ210 or 3W210 on cans any day due to similar power and less weight.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Yes.. Brian's 210 is the RV-j. He had a Mej 34x12 and was spinning 5400rpm, so very similar to my 3W210 and the Menz34x12. As comparison, the 3w220cs on pipes was 6200 on that prop and the Mintor220 was 5800. I'll have to look back, but the ZDZ180 on pipes was 5700 or 5800 on the Menz34x12 if my memory serves me correctly. The Beila 33x12 and Menz 34x12 and Mej 34x12 all spin similar rpms.

In all fairness, the ZDZ210 was first flight.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Too bad I had high hopes for the new 210. Sounds like it is close to what the old one did.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

I just looked up some numbers for accuracy with the Menz 34x12..

3W210 / pefa cans - 5400rpm
Mintor220 - 5640
3W220cs on pipes - 6050
ZDZ180 on pipes - 5600
ZDZ180 on mufflers - 5100
DA200 on KS cans - 5110

ZDZ210rvj on cans - 5400 on Mej 34x12 at Nall. May be a monster on pipes? Could be fun to test

Thanks Trevor.

After watching the video with the 170 it obviously balances with a lighter engine......so yes the lighter twins are thw way to go....
