What would make an ignition skip at about 1/3 throttle? My engine is skipping and i noticed the led for the ignition cut off is blinking at the sme time. Works good at low rpm and high rpm but not in the middle. Could it also be the ignition cut off is the problem?

Re: dle 30

Hi

Don,t you have a switch between the battery and the ignition ? If you don,t ,............. I consider that a dangerous game . Sorry ,if you do , and I misread the posts .

Re: dle 30

Ok, there are a couple things with DLE ignitions. First off, are any of you using the DLE plug that came with the motor ??

If so..... Get rid of it
Replace it with a genuine NGK cm6 plug.

Gap the plug at .024 ( the thickness ofabout a #11 blade )

The DLE ignitions do not like anything below 4.8v and nothing above 6 v. Above or below that range will cause miss firing.

For those using a JR or Spektrum radio. With an optikill switch set the travel or end point in the radio to 0 and 100. 0 being off and 100 being on.
I have seen it where the radio was set to 125 or 150 and the optikill would flicker causing a miss fire.
I don't know why.... But it has happened to me.

Start with those and see if the problem persists.

Re: dle 30

One other thing I found.

If you are running a BEC or regulator. Put it after the Optikill.
Between the optikill and ignition.

Re: dle 30

Hi

If I may .

Hitec had a problem with opto kill switchs , I beleive about a year ago and put out a warning . They fixed the problem with a new download .

Question ? ,............... is there any way of testing youre engines without the radio , " ON " . Or ,..... move the opto farther away from the ignition box ?

I am very curious about the answer .

Michel

Re: dle 30

To answer Michel's question, my opto is 12" from the ignition now. I need the radio for throttle. It used to run perfect on the ground but now it skips on the ground also, progressivly getting worse.
