Took the kids for a little arts and crafts today. Figure I'd give them a little practice before letting them loose on the F-104!

Re: Missile with a man in it - an Avonds F-104 build thread

Sean, I try and refrain from checking in on this thread very often as my iPhone gets soaking wet from the drool. I have an extreme soft spot for the 104 as when I was about as old as the little ones in your pictures above, four CF 104's from Cold Lake would open our local winter festival. Our house backed onto the river where the festival was held and we had front row seats for four ship- sub 500 foot passes. The trees in our yard would shake and we would be awe inspired and terrified at the same time. I will never forget that sound and the sight of the lead looking down on us as he cranked the four ship over the end of our yard. I know it is the very reason I am so plane crazy to this day.

Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see the finished product in the air.

We now know who gets credit for the paint job on the 104.

That's awesome Sean! And when the glaze goes on, it's just like that final clear on our paint jobs! So excited now to see the "scale markings" on the 104!!

Haha, thanks guys! Its fun watching the kids color and paint. So much focus....brief focus anyways. Lol.

Chris, awesome account of the 104. I've never been fortunate to see one fly in person, but from all the footage ive seen, I bet they were spectacular. The sound is just too cool, and I never tire of how futuristic it looks.

Hey Sean,

I am setting up a appointment with our Warplane heritage museum in Hamilton, ON to do a photo shoot of there CF-104 in Tigermeet colors and one outside on the pedestal with same livery as your first model was. If you want any specific picture of the aircraft, from any angle or of any specific section or area, please let me know.

That would be cool Sam, can never have too many pics of the F-104!
Maybe you can put them in a Dropbox folder and share it with me?

Re: Missile with a man in it - an Avonds F-104 build thread

Made some more progress on the model. Worked on getting a nice tight and blended fit to the two main hatches. If interested I can share the steps to do this.

Also worked on the joint between the two fuselage halves.

Together and pushed apart so you can see the joint. Once painted this will be almost invisible.

And the other side:
