O.k.....i know you guys are gonna wet your pants laughing,so get it out
Im right in the middle of my first ever kit build, fuse is done, working on the second wing piece.Laid out on my table with pins in,glue drying.I lay my cup of coffee down beside it to admire the work i have just done. After about a minute or so i knock the stupid cup over, and all over my untouched balsa which is beside everything(Thank goodness my work is o.k)!The 1/16 sheet balsa seems to be warped now.Is the wood scrap now,or will it dry out?

Hey, thats too bad! I know how you feel.

I had just finished the fabric covering on one of the wings of my 1/4 Scale Cub and was so proud of the job I'd done. I said to my wife, Hey how do you like this and I held up the wing and put the end of it right into the celiing fan. Well, at least the wife thought it was funny!

I would dare say that the balsa sheet is probably ruined! Perhaps you could try spraying it with a mist of water and then lay it under a sheet of glass or something to weight it down flat until it drys. But if you have access to a hobby store it would probably be easier and a lot less frustrating to just buy new sheets.

All the best!

One way you get a curved surface (a wheel well for example) is to wet it and form it around a round container (paint can, peanut butter jar, whatever is close to the size you need).

Let it dry and it's probably pretty close to the shape you need without splitting.

Having said that, I would think if you tried Gary's suggestion (and it's as good as any), your balsa sheet would probably be somewhat wavy when dried. Don't care how well it got "pressed down" while drying.

Get a new sheet and chalk it up to experience. Better that than watching your maiden flight crash and burn.

The main sheet that got wet is for the top of the fuel tank just behind the cowl(This is a cub by the way)which needs to be shaped round anyway?
If i wet it and shape it like mentioned in above post,it should be good?

Yup. I think we both thought it was wing sheeting because you referred to it as "wing piece".

Go for it. It is of no concern if it is just for the area you referred to.

Just soak it in a nice warm bath of water to wash out the coffe and then use it on that curved surfacr. When the glue sets up, it'll be perfect.

I do believe I've spilled a few things on balsa too that I've washed out - like my lunch, a can of pop, you name it. Usually it's salvageable for some use somewhere.

The worst part is losing your good coffee.
