Yea, hard to believe. Lil oh me thinking about getting a quadcopter

Id be happy to buy used or a ready to run QC.

Purpose? GoPro / Fly Around / Have fun.

What are things I should look for?

I have tons of 2s lipos for my Offroad trucks, will I be able to utilize them?

Here is a chance to link me to RCC classifieds and tell me about what is forsale.

What should an entry level budget be for a QC that can GoPro? I have the GoPro, maybe my batteries will work and that is it.

Funny that this is posted today -- was just thinking about getting some details about a quadcopter + GoPro setup last night.

Re: FlameWheel 450 thoughts or other QC?

Your 2S Lipos wont be any good unless you parallel them into a 4S lipo. But that is dependent on whether you get a Quad that is 4S capable

I still say the DJI Phantom is a great option. At $700, its pricey but its ready to go. There is nothing else you need to do other than charge the battery, plug it into your computer for the initial setup, then go fly it.

This runs on 3S 2200 batteries and will carry a Gopro no problem. It also has GPS, altitude hold, position hold and return to home. Perfect for a guy like you. The HobbyHobby near you has them in stock. Take a trip over there sometime and check it out.

There are cheaper options, but be prepared to do a lot of reading, researching, assembling, tweaking, programming, fiddling, etc to make it fly. Most hobbyists dont mind this, but if sitting on a computer and debugging is not for you, then the phantom might be the better option when you add up all the cost and time involved to get a so-called "cheaper" quad flying

Re: FlameWheel 450 thoughts or other QC?

Just finished a clone FlameWheel 450 build. good size unit. check out my thread for more details. I like the "build from scratch" approach. when I first started hearing about quads, I almost bought a phantom. I knew I would outgrow it. but hey, it comes ready to fly right out of the box. video sucks out of the box though...read about the shaky jello footage. can be easily fixed though.
