Here is an article from the AP wire service.

JH

CHELSEA, Michigan -- A Michigan man says he was defending his family when he fired a shotgun at his neighbour's radio-controlled model airplanes.
David Nuttle says the planes have been a nuisance.
He says they scare his children, spook his chickens and cause his goats to faint.
Nuttle says two shots hit one of the planes.
He says it crashed when the child operating it lost control after being frightened by the shooting.
Nuttle pleaded guilty to one count of malicious destruction of property.
He's been sentenced to six months probation and 50 hours of community service.
He also has to pay 154 dollars restitution and 550 dollars in fines.

I go thru Chelsea Mi on my way to Michigan speedway. Talk about redneck country. On the way home some of these idiots take two 4x8 sheets of plywood and paint tagets on them. Then they cut a hole in the middle and put there kid(some 7-8 years old) in the hole with a helmet for the race fans to throw cans at them. They keep the money for the can return. The bad part is some think its funny to hit the kid with full cans. The parents think its great to get free beer. Then they wonder why the cycle of life keeps them in the shacks they "live" in. I am sure that the lumps go down between races. Child welfare would love to see this happening.

Then there's the biker guys with the big signs for the girls(I hope) that say "SHOW US YOUR T??S". With 50 biker guys taking pictures.

I just thought I'm the one paying $105.00/ticket two times a year to go to a NASCAR race in redneck country. Maybe I'm the one with a problem?

If I were the judge, I would have forced Mr Nuttle to change his name to Mr Nutter.

You'd have to be living under a rock in the jungle primeval to be afraid of an RC plane. I've even seen Mennonites up at the KWFD airshow for god's sake.

Hey, watch it.
I went to school with a guy named Rick Nutter, and my wifes family are Mennonites!

My commute is hell. (Beautiful scenery though)

I have never seen a city with such crappy traffic planning and infrastructure. The highways are the same as they were when I lived here in the 80's. No improvements. Huge gas tax. The olympic year will be scary.

The indicated my previous comments were "tongue-in-cheek"
(although my comment was true!)

Shotguns aren't worth a dang at ranges over 50 yards (and you need a full choke for that distance). Sounds to me like the guy flying was harassing his neighbour, and the neighbour got fed up with it. That being said, I wonder if you got both of these families together if you could come up with a full set of teeth Sounds like a red-neck thing all around to me....

That has happened in Chilliwack before.

Someone was flying a plane in local park. It was blasted out of the sky by someone who lived in the adjacent ...... trailer park.
