Question 220 Saito Prop size?

What is the best prop size that works well for this engine? I'm using it in a P-51 mustang. Right now I'm using a 19X8 wood prop and only getting 7300rpm tops. The plane was too sluggish.

FA-220A AAC w/Muffler: AD

Key Features
Legendary Saito 4-stroke superiority!
Highest output single cylinder Saito engine
Packs a full two inches of combustion into a case barely bigger than that of most 1.80-size engines
Swings 19x8 prop at 8100 rpm
Lighter than similar displacement gas engines
Overview
Saito takes power-to-weight superiority to new heights with the FA-220—its biggest single-cylinder ever. Packing a whopping 2.2 cubic inches into slightly larger than a 1.80-size case, the FA-220 will give medium to large-scale aerobats like Hangar 9's 27% Extra 260 out-of-sight unlimited performance. And besides the usual Saito benefits like canted valves for better mixture flow and that oh, so satisfying four-stroke sound, the FA-220 has an optional fuel pump as well as a sleek new head design that improves airflow around the cooling fins.

Re: 220 Saito Prop size?

Depends on the prop, a 19x8 Menz S is not going to turn same RPM as a 19x8 Mejzlik.

Re: 220 Saito Prop size?

Have you try AJ hobbies in Vaughan? They have a wide range of props including carbon fibre props.

Smile Re: 220 Saito Prop size?

Put a 18X8 APC on today and recorded 8800rpm. The plane flys great with that size. Has lost of pull and climb rate. The style of the prop works good. I think a 20X8 APC brand should work good with this motor......Time will tell.
